RETAIL CONCEPTS: The Objects We Keep

Studio Notes: The Objects We Keep

The early phases of design are rarely about selecting furniture or finishes. They're about defining a point of view.

For a new retail concept currently in development, I've been exploring the relationship between warm and cool materials. Creamy plaster walls. Rich walnut. Olive accents. Natural stone. Linen, wool, and mohair. Sculptural silver that brings contrast and quiet dimension to the space.

Lately, I've found inspiration in objects that elevate the everyday. The silver lip balm case by Space of Time, modeled after a freshwater pearl, and the sculptural capsule case by Par Olive x Heaven Mayhem are reminders that even the most functional objects can be beautifully considered. Alongside them, the Kindred Black Drift Cuff and a collection of interiors, furniture, and architectural references continue to shape the visual language of this project.

When designing retail environments, I believe the foundation should remain quiet and refined. The walls, materials, and architecture create the backdrop, while the products, furnishings, and collected objects become part of the story. Every element is selected with intention, much like the products curated within the space itself.

The goal isn't simply to design a store.

It's to create a world with a clear point of view.
